Anacortes Brewers night @ the p-house
It must be stated that "Herbert" was incredible. Anacortes Brewery billed it as an Amber/IPA on cask, dry-hopped with Simcoe's. I've had many different cask IPA's from Anacortes, but this one stood apart because of the malting. It was slightly darker than the normal. In my opinion, their previous cask IPA's have been pure...resembling a hefe more than an amber in terms of color/hue, just hops and minimal malting...the way I like 'em. Herbert had it all, that incredible simcoe appeal that I have yet to find in any other hop, and just enough malting to darken it up and really give it one hell of a balance. My only regret is that we can't all enjoy this on tap every night. This hurts but I really think it can give Boundary's IPA a run for its money. I don't think it's an accident that Herbert looked the spitting image of Boundary's version.
